It’s June and most of you mommies are also busy with a new back-to-school schedule. Now is also the perfect time to boost our child’s #MultipleIntelligence. Last summer, it’s all about Body Smart since most of the kids joined sports clinics like swimming, basketball, etc. At school, their Brain Smart and People Smart will be honed.
To help our children jump start their way to Multiple Intelligence, it is important that they have the right nutrition to begin with. I’m happy to report that since we switched to Progress Pre-School GOLD, a lot of people noticed that Gwen is more plump than before. She used to drink a more expensive milk suggested by her pedia but you know, expensive doesn’t mean it’s the best or “hiyang” for your child.
Gwen started as a Junior Kinder at age 3 and 6 months, she was very eager to learn at school but one problem we encountered is her separation anxiety. Up until March, she doesn’t want Ate Rose to leave her inside the room. So this year, we talked to her and asked if she wanted to go to school, she said NO…. and we listened to her. We accepted it and just wait until she’s ready. A part of me was to blame because I enrolled her very early, since I’m also working and she’s always left with the yaya, I thought that she’s better off at school than watching TV or playing with the gadgets at home. But we witnessed her un-readiness at school, so now, we listened to her and she’s staying home this school year.
Despite that, I will try my best to teach and continue what she started in school, she can read CVC words, sight words, and some 4-letter words already. She badly needs to hone her social skills too that’s why I see to it that she has interaction with other people too, not just her 2 cousins hehe. And oh, she told us she wanted to take up ballet, I didn’t sign her up last summer but she’ll have her ballet classes every Saturday starting next month. A 1-hour lesson once a week might be a good start to minimize her separation anxiety.
For other moms whose kids are in school, I’m sharing with you some tips to boost multiple intelligence.
3 Things to Boost Multiple Intelligence
#BrainSmart Tip No. 1
Make a schedule of your child’s study and leisure time. Include him/her in making the schedule so that he/she will have the discipline to follow what he/she wrote down. If possible, there should also be a sort of “gadgets ban” during study time.
#BodySmart Tip No. 2
They have PE classes in school so you don’t have to worry about your child’s physical activity. My tip is more of taking care of their bodies, especially their backs. A lot of parents are complaining about the heavy bags that grade schoolers have to carry. A trolley bag might be a better alternative rather than a backpack. In my school before, the janitors work for an extra cost to carry our bags up to our classrooms. And when I had classes until the afternoon, I have 2 bags, one for the morning class and afternoon class. I just go to school with my morning bag and during lunch time, Nanay will pick up the morning bag and will give my lunch along with my afternoon bag. Just think of ways on how you can lessen the load of your child’s bag, like getting rid of a heavy pencil case?
#PeopleSmart Tip No. 3
Aside from interaction with classmates at school, expand her network by letting her know your church mates, or children of your colleagues, etc. To be able to let them know more about his/her classmates, set up a group study in your place. I’m sure it will be an enjoyable time for your kids, and you’re dealing with 2 smarts too, Brain and People Smarts.

wow she started pre school at such a very young age… unlike me i wasn’t able to take daycare when I was a kiddo and my mom took me to kinder at the age of 6 hehe..
I certainly agree with the gadget ban… kids, nowadays are paying much of their attention to their gadgets and tend to either ignore or forget their home works because of it…
Thanks for sharing this awesome tips ^_^

I like the concept of multiple intelligence. This is also a good campaign for students as they can analyze the situation better.

I remember back when I was younger how I used to come home really sweaty and dirty from playing at the playground after classes. Then again, those where the days gadgets like cellphones and tablets were unheard of, and cartoons only ran certain times in the day. Sad to see how much has really changed through the years.

Hi Gwen and Mommy Bernadeth,
Gwen is growing up so fast 🙂 .. I agree on setting schedule for our kids study time and play time. Good study habits will help kids to be more at ease in studying.

multi intelligence is not only limited to three, there are still more intelligences so to speak. i have read from the net that Howard Gardner of Harvard has identified seven distinct intelligences. I do appreciate the way you present these three intelligences manifested by your kid.

I agree with your tips…these are the reasons I am not really in favor of home schooling because the kids will surely miss the social part of going to school.
