Being a mother is one of the best things a woman can experience, just by having my daughter Gwen, I can’t ask for anything more. Every day is worth celebrating when you’re taking care of your children but I’m grateful that moms are treated more special during Mother’s Day. Last May, Shopwise Alabang treated us moms for an afternoon of cooking lessons, wine 101, and a wine show.
First up was a cooking lesson by Chef Jee Mingoa of Alchemy Bar and Bistro. He’s an expert in French, Western, and Mediterranean cuisine. He showed us how to cook Creamy Beef Paprikash and Pan-fried Fish Fillet with Capers and Tomato, both dishes used wine as one of the ingredients. I’ve been wanting to use wine in cooking my beef dishes but I always get intimidated, thanks to the demo by Chef Gee, I’m gonna try them one of these days.
Try these recipes, they’re really yummy and easy!
Next was Wine 101 and wine sampling by Mattia Mauri. He represents a certain number of Australian wines being sold at Shopwise among which the top selling Beach Hut, Chain of Fire and Lakefield brands. When buying wines, I really find wine tasting helpful, because these wines don’t come cheap so I better like what I buy. They also offered 20% discount on wines during the Mother’s Day weekend. We also came back at Shopwise Alabang last Father’s Day thinking that they have promos on wines too but I guess they have events in other branches.
The afternoon ended with a bang as Joseph Apostol, Philippines Wine Flaring President, showed us his tricks and also made some cocktails using wines. If you have a party at home or you just want to treat yourself, here are the recipes for the drinks. Check out the fun and witty names: Citrus Sunshine, Blossoming Mom, and Mamita el Mojito.
Thank you Shopwise and Digital Circles Asia for an enjoyable Mother’s Day treat!
