I’ve been sick for the past couple of days, what sucks is that I’m not feeling well but I don’t know the cause. I don’t have cough, nor colds…not even fever, just the feeling of being unwell. I told Jeff maybe I just need a massage, but he thinks I should start working out again. That makes sense because last year, when I was going to the gym regularly, I never got sick. This year, working out took a backseat because of the house construction, moving houses, searching for Gwen’s school, etc. I gained weight because I’m stress-eating and too much Starbucks :p
So you know what Jeff did the next morning? He arranged my fitness stuff in our office/study area, hahaha… a very subtle way of saying, “Hoy, mag-workout ka na, tumataba ka na!”
Masakit man aminin but I need to start working out again… back to square one na naman. I thought of going to the gym again but I found out that my trainer no longer works in the gym I frequent. Plus, it’s the holiday season so schedule is tight, sayang lang kung hindi masusulit ang gym membership.
For now, I’ll just do simple exercises at home, buti na lang I kept the routines my trainer made for me. If you’re coming from a sedentary lifestyle aka couch potato like I do, I’m going to share with you my tips when I started my fitness journey.
Eat healthy/diet
Sabi nga the secret in weight loss is 80% diet, 20% exercise. ‘Nuff said.
Start with body weight exercises.
Here’s one simple exercise routine I did when I was just starting.
On the part where you need a TRX, use a fitball if you don’t have any. Actually, you don’t need equipments at all, just your willpower to start your fitness journey.
Try/explore different cardio exercises.
Cardio exercises make you lose weight and increase your metabolism. Trying out different activities like running or zumba will keep you from getting bored. I love joining group exercises, you get to meet people with the same fitness goals like you. Basta the key is to move more, when you move, that means burned calories and fats.
Have motivation.
Think of your goals. Like you need to be healthy for your kids, etc. Sa akin ang babaw lang eh, my motivation was our Boracay-Palawan trip. I need to fit in a bathing suit that’s why I led an active lifestyle. Buying a new pair of rubber shoes or workout clothes also puts me in the mood to workout.
Speaking of workout clothes, I want to share a laundry tip with you. I use Downy AntiBac when washing my workout clothes. We all get sweaty when working out, and guess what, our sweaty clothes are a perfect breeding ground for germs.
I’m very particular about smell, nakakahiya if you’re in full-on branded fitness gear but you smell bad 🙁
Downy AntiBac prevents up to 99% germs that causes malodor on your clothes. So even if I’m sweaty and tired from exercising, my clothes still smell fresh. Our #fitnessgoals should not include having a malodor in our clothes, okay?

Same here! I always try whenever they release a new variant like the Downy Sweetheart, but the I really love the smell of Daring. What’s your fave?

I hate it when newly washed clothes still smell bad. We also use Downy even though we send most of our laundry to the laundromat these days.
