KidZania Manila soon to open in Taguig

The news about KidZania theme park opening here in Manila got me excited than the rumors of Disneyland opening here in the Philippines! KidZania is set to open at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig by November 2014. It is franchised by Play Innovations Inc., which is under ABS-CBN Corporation. It’s tagged as an “edutainment facility” (educational entertainment).

What is exactly KidZania? Here’s the concept taken from their website:

KidZania provides children and their parents a safe, unique, and very realistic educational environment that allows kids between the ages of four to twelve to do what comes naturally to them: role-playing by mimicking traditionally adult activities. As in the real world, children perform “jobs” and are either paid for their work (as a fireman, doctor, police officer, journalist, shopkeeper, etc.) or pay to shop or to be entertained. The indoor theme park is a city built to scale for children, complete with buildings, paved streets, vehicles, a functioning economy, and recognizable destinations in the form of “establishments” sponsored and branded by leading multi-national and local brands.

Basically, it’s like a real-world Sims, if you’re familiar with that computer game but in here, kids aged 4 to 11 years old rule!

KidZania is a world of ROLE-PLAY. They can be a chef, pilot, cook, superstar, fireman….anything! 100 role-playing activities are waiting for the kids. Upon entering KidZania city, the kids pick an occupation, learn about their job, don a uniform, and start earning and spending their kidZos (KidZania’s currency). kidZos will be deposited in their own personal savings account at the KidZania bank, they will be required to open one and will be given an ATM card that can be used in KidZania branches abroad.
