Unilab through its Unilab Foundation does it again in empowering Filipinos to make a difference. Last week, I was invited to witness the launch of #healthierPH Volunteer Portal. The Portal breaks the usual notions about volunteerism: that volunteer work always means physical work; requires physical presence; or needs financial investments in order to make great contributions. In this digital world, even just one Facebook share or one retweet can make a difference, it can spread awareness. Remember that viral photo of an alleged kidnapping taken by a concerned citizen along Edsa? The authorities would not have been alerted and prompted to investigate further, but thanks to that photo all over social media, the policemen were able to shed light on that issue.
Sometimes, it only takes one responsible click to make an impact.
In the #healthierPH Volunteer Portal, volunteerism became digital and fun. It is transformed into a game wherein one can earn points, get rewards, and level up as you accomplish tasks to a healthier Philippines.
Unilab Foundation has various programs to solve health gaps – highly needed, yet highly neglected, aspects of health, in marginalized sectors or communities where action can create the greatest impact.
- Play It Forward – Developmental and therapeutic play intervention
- Leadership Journey – Leadership developmental program for healthcare professionals
- Project Inclusion – Employment program for Persons With Disabilities
- Ideas Positive – Transforming communities through and with the Filipino youth
- Bayanihan Sagad – Building a healthier Philippines, one senior citizen at a time.

#HealthisHappening – The 21 Day Healthy Habit Challenge
One exciting project included in the portal is this 21-day Healthy Habit Challenge. As shown in the portal, it gives you double points if you join this project. You also have the chance to win an Iphone 5s once you completed the challenge and followed the mechanics.
As a parent, being healthy is crucial for my child’s well-being. That’s why I’m taking this challenge to be a healthier mommy for my family, and also towards a healthier Philippines. Go check out the site and see what great things you can do.
