Wondering why I’ve been quiet last week? It’s an exhausting week for us because Gwen got admitted at Capitol Medical Center because of UTI and appearance of rashes which the doctors said are just viral. Saturday and Sunday, Gwen had fever (38.6 C and 39.6 C) only during night time, she’s really ill because she doesn’t want to play and would just cling to me or Jeff to be able to put to sleep. We took a leave from work to visit her pedia on Monday morning, turned out that her doctor was out of the country but she was examined by her doctor’s reliever. She said that if Gwen still has fever until Tuesday, we should get her urine for urinalysis and also get a CBC. But come Monday night, we really got worried because she kept on crying, doesn’t want to drink her milk and eat and can’t sleep. Her temperature is only at around 38 C but still, we’re worried of her crying bouts. So we decided to take her to the ER of Capitol Medical Center.
Funny thing was when we’re inside the car en route to the hospital, she became quiet and almost sleepy. We even joked that she’s just bored inside the house and would just want to roam around. We then reached CMC’s emergency room and proceeded with the usual SOP.
The biggest nightmare of being a parent is to see your child wailing in pain, they had to put her an IV so that she won’t get dehydrated. I cried too while she grimaced in pain, I almost said no to the nurse and that I will just take my baby home. She cried until there were no tears in her eyes, she’s still sobbing even after settling in our room. I’m still thinking of bringing her home, I am full of regrets that I shouldn’t have taken her in the hospital and have her suffer.
CBC results are fine, so dengue is out of the picture. This is one main reason why we rushed her to the ER, 3 days of fever and it might be dengue but thank God it’s not. Her urinalysis showed that it’s UTI and she was given antibiotics through IV. On Wednesday morning, rashes appeared on her face, chest and back, but she has no fever since Tuesday. The doctor said that it’s just a viral infection and will just subside, other mommies said that it might be roseola.
We were out of the hospital on Thursday afternoon, thank God! And it’s her 15th month that day. It was a difficult week for us, but glad it’s over and Gwen is now back with her adorable self!
Be well and take care of yourself and your kids! Bawal magkasakit!

oh, thank God she was discharged immediately.. ang hirap nga talaga pag nagkakasakit sila. hopefully si SooAe hindi makuha yung viral infection that sent her playmates to hospitals..
she had that type of viral infection when she turned 6 mos. old. she suddenly had rashes all over her body. the doctor advised us against going camping (it was Alex’ summer vacation) but we still brought her to the nearby island for fresh air and change of scenery. nagsubside naman yung rashes nya…
good job Mommy and yaya. mas mahirap for the mom pag may sakit ang isang member ng family, lalo na ang baby… hugs and kisses to Gwen..
