Clear Laser Peel & Syringoma Removal at Luminisce Skin Clinic

I’m 34, OMG! I stopped counting when I turned 30, I kid you not, so whenever someone asks for my age, I always have to do the math in my head first. I don’t care about the numbers though, what I’m worried is looking old (read: wrinkles).With that, my skin care regimen now is the Perfect Renew line of Laneige. Whenever I go for a facial, I always choose the treatment with collagen for anti-ageing. What I’m after is to look younger for my age.

When I heard about the raves on Dra. Kaycee Reyes and Luminisce Skin and Laser Clinic online, the latest of which is from Rica Peralejo-Bonifacio’s IG account, I got curious about her treatments especially the Luxury Facial. So I finally decided to invest in my skin and book an appointment at Luminisce in BGC.

Luminisce is located at the 2nd Floor of Mercury Drug Bldg. in front of St. Lukes Medical Center in BGC. If you’re taking the BGC bus, it’s the same bus stop of Globe Tower/HSBC. After going up to the 2nd Flr., you will immediately see the brightly lit Luminisce clinic.

The staff at the reception was very pleasant and asked my name and if I have set an appointment. Tip: It’s best to call first for an appointment because they get fully booked even on weekdays. After confirming my appointment, I was asked to fill out a 2-page form with my name and some questions about my medical history and skin care concerns. I like that they are very thorough in knowing your medical history because it will be useful with your treatments in their clinic. While waiting, I can’t help but feel like a royalty with their Victorian-inspired interiors, looks like a preview of things to come inside the clinic. To complete that royal-feeling, I was offered some tea.

The minute my name was called, I thought I will immediately go to one of their treatment rooms. I was surprised to see Dra. Kaycee smiling inside the room, she then asked about my skin concerns. My primary concern is the small bumps around my eyes, Dra. Kaycee told me its syringoma. I also added that I begin to notice that my pores are getting bigger. Aside from those two, I just said that I don’t want to see any wrinkles at my age, I’m not really after the whitening of my face but it’s a bonus as long as I look young :p.

On a side note, I told Dra. Kaycee Reyes that her photos online don’t do her justice, promise! She looks prettier and younger in person, not to mention that her skin is perfect! So when I saw that my skin doctor has perfect skin, I’m assured that I’m in good hands.

Anyway, after my blabbering to which Dra. Kaycee listened intently, she called Nurse Levy to list down the treatments she thinks I need.  She suggested Luxury Facial, Clear Laser Peel, Thermasmooth, and removal of my syringoma.

I appreciate that she provided all these solutions to my skin concerns and on my first visit. I was especially excited for my facial to begin. But first, here’s a before photo. Notice the syringoma especially around my left eye.

Luxury Facial

The Luxury Facial is I think what made Luminisce very famous, it’s a pain-free facial treatment that deep cleans pores and removes bacteria-causing acne, trapped dirt, and excess oil, while minimizing pores up to 2 weeks. This is perfect for those who dislikes pricking which is very common in derma clinics.

With Luxury Facial, whiteheads and blackheads are removed via sonophoresis, a process wherein ultrasound waves also seep nutrients into the skin. After, electric currents safely pass through the skin using a special machine to lift and revitalize the skin. And finally, an oxygenating machine releases cool, pressurized oxygen into the skin to hydrate and open pores.

Clear Laser Peel by Spectra XT

I don’t know why they called this Clear Laser PEEL when I haven’t experienced any peeling at all. But after I felt the results on my skin afterwards, I now get why it’s called such. It’s because you will have the same benefits of a peel sans the abrasive tools and harsh chemicals. Win-win! And this is my favorite procedure in Luminisce.

Three rounds of laser are applied on the skin after a film of carbon lotion: the first round to absorb carbon into the skin promoting skin rejuvenation, the second to target the absorbed carbon which causes concomitant decrease in oiliness, and the third is to tighten pores.

I was comfortable and relaxed the entire procedure especially because Dra. Kaycee herself is the one handling the machine. Nurse Levy is there to assist and turn my head where they need to aim the laser. I felt the heat especially during the 2nd and 3rd round of the laser but it’s tolerable, still pain-free. After all, the Spectra XT is one of the safest, fastest, and most advanced laser treatments available today.

Luxury Facial and Clear Laser Peel is Php 5,500.

Syringoma Removal

During the consultation, Dra. Kaycee mentioned that there will be a downtime of around 7 days for this procedure. I’m fine with that since this is not the first time I had it removed. Yes, syringoma just like warts, comes back after a few months or years.

A topical anesthesia was applied on around my eyes and was left there for a good 20 minutes. I was relaxed and enjoyed the piped-in music of the clinic and their FREE wifi for patients! I expected that the procedure would be a little uncomfortable but the topical anesthesia really helped, the discomfort was tolerable and I was focused on getting the best result for my syringoma.

Again, one of the doctors did my syringoma removal, you will feel some discomfort in the areas where the laser lingered a bit longer, maybe because the bump is big. When the anesthesia has faded, the area around my eyes felt sore but still, tolerable. They prescribed an antibiotic cream to be applied twice a day for 7 days.

Syringoma removal is Php 7,500. I think this depends on the number of bumps you have so price depends on your skin’s condition.

After the facial treatments

Prior to my facial and as you can see in my before photo, I have pimples in my chin. But a few days after my Luminisce visit, my skin has cleared and no impending zits.

It’s the 4th day after my syringoma removal and the wounds have dried up, I’m still on the healing phase so I will update this post with my beautiful AFTER photos by then.
