At an early age, I want Gwen to be a reader, a book lover. My love for reading started when I was in kindergarten, I would pretend to read the newspaper. The pretensions paid off though, I started reading way ahead than my classmates. In grade school, Nanay will always buy me Sweet Valley Twins books for me to read and exchange with my classmates. Sadly, I don’t have the luxury to read books anymore, and to buy books, they are so expensive nowadays. But still, I resist reading with ebooks, I still want to smell the pages of a new book and flip through its crisp pages. (I’m saving up for the Fifty Shades trilogy, btw)
Anyway, enough of me, and let me show you Gwen’s new board books. I have a Php 300 National Bookstore GCs, initially, I just want to buy new crayons and coloring books but when Jeff and I saw these board books, we bought them without hesitations.
It’s the Let’s Get Talking series illustrated by Simon Abbott. It’s a very basic book, contains cute illustrations of different animals and things. Each book costs Php 225. 4 titles are available: alphabet, animals, words, and numbers. We didn’t buy the Numbers yet, she can count from 1-10 alright but it can wait.
Board books are great because my toddler can play with the pages over and over again and it’s still intact.
Here’s a little secret, you know where to buy cheap but pretty board books? BOOK SALE! I’ve been a fan of Book Sale since college. I bought a few of Gwen’s board books for under a 100 pesos only. Go check them out.
I’m just thinking, am I the last person who doesn’t want to read an ebook? It really hurts my eyes….
Connie's Notebook says
I’m not fond of ebooks either. I still prefer to hold the book, feel and smell the paper. Some say Kindle is kind to the eyes. But I think I’d still prefer to have printed books over any reader or tablet. =)
Pero kung may magreregalo ng Kindle or Nook, siyempre tatanggapin ko. =)
