We booked our tickets to Singapore last May, I hesitated for a moment if we’ll bring Gwen with us since she doesn’t have a passport yet. But after getting her passport in June, heck, we decided to bring her and make it her first flight. We already anticipated that it will be a tiring trip, we didn’t set any itineraries either, we’ll just go with the flow and explore wherever our feet will take us depending on Gwen’s mood. What also made me decide to bring Gwen is because we’re staying at our friend’s house who has a 10-month old baby boy too. So, bottle sterilizer, bath tub, bottle cleaners, stroller, etc. won’t be a problem and it won’t hassle us on our luggage. We’ll just bring the usuals, baby bottles, clothes, diapers, medicines/vitamins and milk. I even got the chance to buy for baby cereals at Fairprice.
Our friend has a Britax B-ready stroller that their kids use, they let Gwen use the top seat. Even if the stroller’s bulky, we can just roll it out inside lifts and MRT, yes MRT! (I wish we can do that here).
Singapore being stroller-friendly really wowed us, but the reason why I nominate Singapore as a baby-friendly country is because of the abundance of spacious and comfortable diaper changing rooms, also called baby care rooms or parents room. Since we’re out most of the time, I’m already prepared to do the dirty job of changing diapers, I have the changing pads that came with my Baby Couture diaper bag and lotsa baby wipes for cleaning the surface. But I was surprised with the hotel-like interiors of their changing rooms, I’ve never seen anything like it here in Manila even inside Sofitel’s comfort room when I changed Gwen’s diapers there.
For the 4 days that we’re roaming Singapore, we also had a sort-of tour inside these diaper changing rooms. So let’s have a tour of Singapore, baby-style…
Aside from the male and female toilets in malls, there are dedicated rooms for babies, you just have to look for the signs on what level they are located.
This is not a hotel room, Parents Room in Ion Mall has a fan, hot and cold water dispenser, bottle warmer and a comfy chair.
The changing table also comes with a strap for the baby…
At Tampines 1 Mall, they have Nursing Rooms for breastfeeding and pumping mommies…
Wait till you see the Baby Care room of Ikea…
Haaay, I wish we can just have a slice of Singapore in terms of cleanliness and being baby-friendly….
