“Not all milks are created equal.” This is one of the important lessons I learned from the Mommy & Milk event hosted by Anchor last week.
Can I ask you a favor, mommy? Please stand up and grab that box of your child’s milk. Look at the ingredients. Can you spot some alien-looking words listed in your child’s milk? Or perhaps, there’s a substantial amount of sugar in them, check for sucrose, sugar, etc. Also watch out for hydrogenated oils may it be palm oil, vegetable oil, etc. These are just additives in milk and does not contribute to your child’s nutrition.
Here’s my tip mommies, I was once an organic and inorganic foods freak and my work deals with reading engineering articles that’s why I know this. If you cannot read and spell the ingredient and sounds funny, then that should NOT be in your food. Take for example the icebreaker activity we had at the event, we were presented with different ingredients like dipotassium hydrogen phosphate, sodium hexametaphosphate, whew! Tinatype ko pa lang, nakakapagod na hahaha…. Anyway, it’s good that Anchor invited a nutritionist to explain to us about the importance of reading the ingredients list and also about bioavailability. Bioavailability means how well the nutrient such as protein can be digested and absorbed in the body.
Now, if you will check Anchor Full Cream UHT Milk’s ingredients, it only has Fresh Cow’s Milk, yun lang! No sugars, no additives. With their Full Cream Powdered Milk, it has Whole Milk Powder, Lecithin, Ferric Pyrophosphate, Vitamin C, Vitamin A, and Vitamin D3. Ferric is iron, and Lecithin is a kind of fat that has benefits for the body.
Personally, knowing what is listed in Anchor milk is very reassuring that I’m giving whole dairy goodness and dairy nourishment to Gwen every day. If you’re still not convinced, here are 3 reasons why you should give Anchor Milk to your child.
